How Homesteading & Holistic Healing Connect…
I battle sometimes about what I want this blog to be about. When I first started, it was supposed to be all about canning food and how to use that canned food in actual recipes. When I first started canning, I loved that I had all this food on the shelves but I hated that I didn’t actually know how to use it in recipes.
So that is where, “Oh Sure I Can” began. But as it morphed, homesteading was something we were very passionate about…well, and still is. So, I began to share our homesteading adventures and the skills we learned along the way.
…Health and natural living was something that influenced how we lived as well. So, then I began to share about holistic healing. But then I felt confused…
What is this blog about?
So I went on to our instagram and asked what people wanted to hear from us. And they all said, “everything you are sharing already, keep sharing.”
So I decided…
…This blog is about homesteading and holistic healing. I mean, I already had it in my tag line but for some reason I felt it was too broad and not narrow enough to provide you guys with some meat and potatoes kind of information. But here is the thing, homesteading and holistic healing are 100 percent connected.
Individuals who start on a homesteading journey are craving something more natural. A more simpler way of living. Homesteading is about knowing where your food and everything in your home came from. This lifestyles is about everything that you do and consume should give back to the earth in some way rather than destroy it.
Individuals who start on a holistic healing journey are craving a sense of self reliance. A way to take their health back into their own hands by putting naturally sourced products into their body rather than something that can destroy it.
You see, homesteading & holistic healing are connected.
The concept of living is the same, just on different levels. These two beautiful worlds are what keep us going. There is something so powerful about being able to grow your own food. Or heal your body with natural resources. Sometimes we feel like others who are not on the same mindset slightly judge us. But I gotta say, it feels a whole shit ton better when our kids ask for frozen bananas for desert rather than candy.

But here is the thing, we should all live a life that makes our soul smile.
And homesteading and holistic healing are two ways we live our life that just bring complete contentment and peace to our soul. Homesteading give us a sense of control over our life. We learn skills that will inevitably keep us alive without even thinking about it.
About a little over a year ago, we were forced to process our chickens earlier than anticipated. When we bought them our goal was to make them food when the time came. After their egg production slowed. But after an altercation between two other neighbors and us getting caught in the middle of it, we were forced to process them before we were ready.
To tell you the truth, we were pissed and filled with anger over it. But now that it is all said and done, we know what it takes to do it and understand the mindset to process a chicken and put it on the table if we ever needed to.
Homesteading gives you strength in the most unforeseen ways.
This also trickles into understanding how medicinal herbs work and how to use them for your health. Back when our son was born, he was extremely colicky. The boy never slept. I had just began my journey into herbs and learning the benefits of them. As I researched colicky babies, I found that chamomile has tremendous benefits for babies with colic.
I learned what it took to get that herb into his sweet little baby body and felt incredible when we started seeing results. And not only because we started getting sleep.😉 But our boy finally felt some relief. Relief from Mother Nature herself that put that very herb on this earth for our boy that needed it.
Holistic living gives you strength in the most unforeseen ways.
I finally came to peace with the fact that this little blog gives our readers a touch of this and a whole lotta that. Because my soul wouldn’t be at peace if I forced myself to write or share about anything else. This blog is built on about an hour or so at night. When the rest of the house is asleep. After working a full day at work. Then coming home, to tend to our home and family. So, it is important that I feel connected and I do.
With all this said, I’d still love to hear from you. What do you want to hear more of? What do you look forward to from us? Leave a comment below or shoot us an email. Or give us a follow on Instagram and message us there.
Until next time….
Happy homesteading & holistic healing!
